Dutch Songbird translation

March 10th, 2009

I spent some time today giving the Dutch translation of Songbird a thorough review. There were some errors ranging from changed/mis-translated strings, spelling errors, instances of ‘the English disease’ and wrong menu access keys to two shortcuts not working. Right now, with 207 string changes, I’m the number two translator in the rankings! :) Looking forward to the 1.1 release and see my changes in action.

But overall, the translation was already pretty decent, for a translation project with no dedicated team! At least, that I know of.

By the way, kudos to the Songbird team for providing such excellent community developer tools. There is good documentation on making skins and extensions, and a handy extension with a wizard to get started. And translation works via an easy to use ‘ajaxy’ web page. It was very easy to jump in and get started.

Oh, and I updated my More Native skin for the upcoming Songbird 1.1 release.
